Help govern your police service by becoming an Independent Custody Visitor

The Police and Crime Commission is looking for people who are passionate about helping their community and want to contribute to the governance of Northamptonshire’s policing and criminal justice services through volunteering to become an independent custody visitor.

People who fulfil these roles play a crucial role in holding policing services to account, ensuring the treatment of those in custody is fair and that detainees are receiving their rights and entitlements. Successful applicants receive full training while commitment levels can be managed to suit the individual.

If this sounds like a way you’d like to contribute to your community, visit our dedicated Independent Custody Visiting page for a full role description and applicant specification. Applications can be made through the submission of an online form, by email or by post – whichever suits you.
